Alaska’s Learning Network
Alaska’s Learning Network (AKLN) improves student achievement through online learning and professional development opportunities by providing:
- Distance courses for students that are taught and supported by highly qualified Alaska teachers,
- A network of support for teachers, educators, and students to collaborate and share artifact resources, ideas and tools in a digital repository searchable by Alaska standards,
- Professional development coaching including on-site and off site support and training.
Alaska Performance Scholarship
Governor Parnell proposed the Alaska Performance Scholarship (APS) in 2010 as an invitation to excellence, extended to Alaska students, parents, and educators. The APS is a merit-based scholarship that provides an opportunity for any future Alaska high school graduate who meets a core set of requirements to receive funding to pursue college and/or career training in Alaska.
Alaska’s Institute of Technology
AVTEC – Alaska’s Institute of Technology (formerly the Alaska Vocational Technical Center) provides technical and related training to a statewide multi-cultural population for employment in the dynamic Alaskan community.
White Spot Cafe
The White Spot Cafe is a small cafe joint in downtown Anchorage. Surprisingly, it doesn’t get much publicity amongst the tourists, but the locals know about this place. There are two large tables for groups of 4 and two or three more tables for groups of 2.
