KACN’s Advertising Philosophy – We Are a Special Sort of Station
Our first priority at KACN is to provide exceptional, unique programming that helps strengthen and build our Alaskan people, communities, economy, and opportunities for all.
We seek advertisers that care about Alaska, its people, its environment, and it’s future. If that sounds like you, we would love to work with you to plan an advertising program that works with your needs.
Together, we can help grow your business and make a real difference for Alaskans at the same time!
We know advertising is about connecting your cause, product, or service with people who need it. We can help you do just that.
Often the first and foremost questions potential advertisers and their ad firms want to know is “Who will see our messages?,” “Who will be our viewers?,” and “What is known about them?” These are great questions and deserve specific, factual answers. Let us address these questions.
KACN-TV is a very special TV station with a unique program schedule. Except for regular news presentations provided by other Alaska stations, KACN-TV staff produces and broadcasts more Alaska programs than any other Alaska TV station.
KACN-TV offers unique advertising opportunities while broadcasting a mix of community programs produced by local producers and award-winning programming from around the world.
Although not a subscriber to the costly Neilson Ratings system, the station has chosen to be engaged in interactive viewer involvement to learn the answers program sponsors needs. With our dynamic new website, viewers can now respond to each new post, and through our discussion area we will further encourage viewer involvement and community building. KACN-TV staff is committed to accumulating and sharing viewer demographic information as it becomes increasingly available.
Please let the KACN-TV staff know what additional information you need and would like provided you. As the newest TV station in Anchorage, our viewing audience is rapidly expanding along with our statewide program distribution.
Join the many KACN-TV program sponsors in telling your story. Our special price for new sponsors is exceptionally reasonable. We believe it offers the best benefit/cost ratio in the state!
Limited Advertising
Typically major networks insert 16 minutes of advertising in each hour of programming.
We think that’s too much! In fact, its absurd!
At KACN we believe mainstream network television commercial advertising has grown out of control and is diminishing the viewing experience of all who watch television. So we are doing something about it!
KACN is an independent, Alaskan-owned station. That means we are free to stand aside from the herd and be a different kind of animal. In this light, KACN management chooses to minimize commercial insertions in the middle of programming. Our goal is to keep commercials down to 6 minutes per hour, with a maximum cap of 8 minutes per hour in special cases–less than half the average!
We believe this approach improves our viewer experience and makes KACN stand out so our viewership will keep growing in size and loyalty.
That fact is, with the advance of DVR technology, many viewers are avoiding advertising on their favorite channels. By keeping our commercials down to the minimum, each one will stand out more, and the viewer urge to record and scan ahead will be reduced as a result.
This approach will help you. Limited advertising ensures your ad will have a greater impact on viewers because of the relatively fewer commercials shared.
KACN Television: Reaching Your Audience with Appointment TV
Advertising with KACN reaches Alaskan viewers interested in local programming, youth media, indigenous people’s cultural preservation, civic engagement and life long learning.
Viewers make appointments to watch KACN programming! Shows such as the Alaska Football League, Concerns Alaskans, Statewide Arts, Clan Conference, Alaska Report and the Alaska Writers Guild offer content of interest to Alaskans in particular, content found nowhere else.
Our viewers appreciate and support businesses that make a commitment to community programs that help Alaskan youth and communities. Alaskan programs always have the priority for daily scheduling.
KACN Television: Reaching Community Leaders and Nexus People
When you consider advertising on KACN, we encourage you to think about Quality over Quantity.
Who is it you really need to reach? Many businesses would say they want to reach “everybody.” Reaching everybody has its advantages. But reaching some people can have a multiplier effect that makes the response more valuable.
In every community there exist leaders and other “nexus” people. These are the sorts of people who have bigger networks, more interactions, and more meaningful connections than most.
We believe that these nexus people are the sort of people KACN excels most in reaching. Our viewers come to KACN because we deal with the important issues facing Alaska, because we are often the only station that even respects their interests, and because our programming focuses on what is important to them.
Not just seeking entertainment to alleviate boredom, our viewers are the sort of people who are active in their families and communities, always seeking to learn and share more information. When your message reaches one of these people and they become enamored with your cause, product, or service, they tell their friends. And they have a lot of friends.
So when you think about advertising, it’s not just a raw numbers game. It’s a quality game too. Quality trumps quantity. At KACN Television we are working to deliver both.
KACN – Lowest Television Advertising Rates in Alaska
Our rates are based on a formula that factors the novelty of KACN’s local programming, start-up and sustainability of the station, and the current economy. KACN makes television advertising affordable for all businesses!
We guarantee our rates are not only competitive, but are the lowest commercial rates, coupled with award, winning production value, in the Anchorage/Mat-Su market, and beyond.
